Obituary of Betty Berniece Fairley
It is with heavy hearts that the family of Betty Berniece Fairley announce her passing on February 5th, 2025 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital in Fredericton, NB with loved ones by her side.
Born on a warm day in August 1938 she was the daughter of the late John Alexander Greer and Bessie Mae Wood (Sowers).
Betty was a kind and selfless soul who brought warmth and joy to everyone she met. She had a deep love for cribbage and was always ready for a friendly game. But above all, her greatest joy was her grandchildren and great-grandchildren—they were the light of her life. With a heart full of compassion, she cared for everyone around her, often bringing blankets, pillows, and supplies to those in need. She had a special fondness for lobster and a warm bowl of seafood chowder, and she cherished the moments spent watching the little ones play. Her laughter was infectious, her kindness endless, and her love immeasurable. She will be deeply missed but forever remembered by those who were lucky enough to know her.
Betty will be dearly missed by her sons, James Fairley, Kenneth Fairley (Barbara) and Perry Fairley; daughter, Wendy Estey; grandchildren, Kendell, Dustin, Lindsay (Troy), Candice (Reid), Kendra (Jordie); great grandchildren, Liam, Kayde, Yasmine, Willow, Oakley, Kian, Spencer, Soren, Axel; brother, James “Chuck” Wood (Ellen); several nieces and nephews, many relatives and dear friends.
In addition to her parents, Betty was predeceased by her beloved husband, Kenneth Fairley; her son, Ricky Fairley as well as 11 siblings.
In lieu of flowers, for those looking to make a donation in Betty’s memory, her family kindly requests that contributions be made to the Alzheimer’s Society.
Betty’s family invites everyone to attend a memorial service which will take place 6:00 PM Saturday, February 8th, 2025 at the Marysville Heritage Centre (11 McGloin St, Fredericton, NB E3A 5T8).
A special thank you to the kind staff, doctors and nurses at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital for the excellent care they provided during Betty’s last days.
