Obituary of Nora Jane Stewart
With heavy hearts, the family of Nora Jane Stewart announce her passing on Saturday, February 8th 2025 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital in Fredericton, NB.
Born on a warm Monday in August 1954, she was the daughter of the William Archibald Charters and Mary Aletta Thompson.
Nora’s heart was as vast as the sky, always making family her first and greatest love. She had a gift for turning ordinary moments into celebrations, her laughter so warm and infectious it could brighten even the dullest day. A steadfast presence at every family gathering, she cheered her grandchildren on with boundless pride, reveling in their every success.
She found magic in life’s simple joys, peaceful days by the river, the thrill of a bingo win, and spirited card nights with dear friends. Her weekly calls with her cherished nephew, Fred Charters, were more than a routine; they were a treasured ritual of love and connection.
And wherever Nora went, her faithful companion, Queenie, was always by her side; a perfect duo, cruising through the community, spreading joy as they went.
Nora will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by her daughter, Penny Mancini (Charles); her son, Jerry Hamilton (Wanda); stepdaughter, Sherry Stewart (Andy); grandchildren, Jordan, Skyler, Gavin, Travis, Taylor, Alexa, Ryan, Christopher and Joshua; siblings, Debbie Myles, Valerie Stokes (Tony), Leonard Charters (Danette), Adam Charters (Jill); brother in law, Brian Underwood; sister in law, Sheila Thompson.
In addition to her parents, Nora was predeceased by the love of her life, Joseph Stewart; her son, Paul Hamilton; brothers, Allan Thompson and Jarrett McDermott; her sister, Ruby Underwood.
For those who wish to make a donation in memory of Nora, her family kindly requests contributions be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of NB.
Memorial Service will take place on Saturday, March 1st 2025 at 2:00PM at the Orange Lodge (Carrolls Crossing, NB E9C 2E9).
