Obituary of Carl Eric Spencer
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Carl Eric Spencer, who left us peacefully on April 16, 2025, at the Saint John Regional Hospital, surrounded by the love of his family. Born in Moncton, New Brunswick, on March 18, 1949, Carl was the beloved son of the late Alfred and Eloise (Leet) Spencer.
Carl lived a life rich in kindness, connection, and character. A devoted father, a proud grandfather, and a loyal friend, he was known for his big heart, warm smile, and easygoing nature. He loved fast cars, big trucks, and had a soft spot for every dog he ever met. His passion for all things on wheels was only matched by the joy he found in the company of others.
Carl worked for many years with the Department of Transportation and Infrastructure (DTI), where he was respected for his dedication and strong work ethic. In recent years, he was a cherished member of the Minto Senior’s Club, where his friendly and sociable spirit made him a treasured part of the community. This past summer, Carl was honored to be named Senior King in the annual pageant, a title he wore with pride and a twinkle in his eye.
He is survived by his loving sons, Derrick (Angèle), Evan (Dionne), and Shane; and by the grandchildren who brought so much joy to his life; Jake, Patrick, Sydney, Jordyn, Madison, and Scarlett. Carl also leaves behind his brothers, Lloyd and Gary (Darlene); his sister, Gertie (John); and his dear friend Ella, who held a special place in his heart. He will also be lovingly remembered by many extended family members and lifelong friends.
In addition to his parents, Carl was predeceased by his sister-in-law, Deanna.
For those who wish to honor Carl’s memory, the family kindly requests donations be made to your local SPCA, a cause close to his heart.
Visitation will take place at Hogg Funeral & Cremation Services (10 King Street, Minto, NB) on Monday, April 21, 2025, from 2:00 to 4:00 PM.
A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, April 22 at 2:00 PM at Second Chipman United Baptist Church (225 Main Street, Chipman, NB).
Interment will follow at Redbank Cemetery at a later date.
Carl will be deeply missed, but the love he shared and the memories he created will live on forever; and as he always said: “it’s not goodbye, it’s see you later!”
