Laverne Doak

Obituary of Laverne Elaine Doak

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Laverne Elaine Doak, aged 82, of Maugerville, NB.  Laverne, beloved wife of David "Dick" Doak, passed away on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital.

Born on Sunday, October 18, 1942, in Maugerville, Laverne was the daughter of the late Albert Charles and Constance Clara (Ladd) Shields.

Laverne will be fondly remembered by her family, including her son, Rickey David Doak and Fiancé, Eileen Collett; her daughter, Tina Marie (Doak) and husband George Nicholas Goutakolis; and her loving grandchildren: Charles Francois Doak and wife Erica, Rikki Martina Doak and Niko David Goutakolis

In addition to her beloved parents, Laverne was predeceased by her sisters, Josephine McCann, Phyllis Riley, Mary Brewster, Theresa Thomas, and Clara Lenetine.

Laverne will never be forgotten…

Her legacy is one of unwavering love, strength, and kindness. She was fiercely free-spirited and beautifully independent.

Her compassion and wisdom, lived a life that illuminated the path around her.  Laverne’s spirit, endless laughter, and unwavering love will endure in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her. Our dear mother and grandmother was our guiding light, our matriarch, heart of the home, protector, angel, life-giver, wisdom keeper and eternal love.

Dick called Laverne his beloved soulmate, partner-in-life, the queen of his heart, confidante, his rock, best friend and kindred spirit. Her melody will linger in his soul. She was his steady light that guided him home.  Her heart was the safest place he’d  ever known. With her, love was not just spoken—it was lived, breathed, and woven into every moment they shared.

His mornings first words would be “Good morning, Dear”.  His nights last words were a prayer that he’d see her in the morning, if the good Lords willing. Yay… and if you dream about anybody. Make sure its me.

They were married 66 years ago.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Maugerville Community Centre on Sunday, April 27, 2025 from 2 to 4 pm. Those wishing to offer personal condolences may do so through the website www.hoggfunerals.ca
