Obituary of Cécile Mary Powers

With heavy hearts, we announce the peaceful passing of Cécile Mary Powers (née Arsenault) on May 12, 2025, at the W.G. Bishop Nursing Home in Minto, New Brunswick. Born on November 22, 1936, in Rogersville, she was the beloved daughter of the late Leo and Florence Arsenault.

Cécile was predeceased by her loving husband, George Michael Powers, her sons Patrick and Arthur, her grandson Calvin, and several cherished extended family members who were dear to her heart. Though her absence leaves a profound void, her legacy of love, strength, and unwavering faith lives on in those who knew her.

She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by her children: Michael (Linda), Tom (Gwyn), Stephen, Christine (Greg), Danny (Chrissy), and Darrell (Allyson); her daughter-in-law Nancy; her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; as well as countless extended family members and friends.

Cécile had a quiet but fierce spirit, grounded in faith and love. She found joy in simple pleasures; puzzles, Yahtzee, her beloved soap operas, reading her Bible, and attending church whenever she could. Her favourite colour was purple, a perfect reflection of the grace and dignity with which she lived her life.

The family extends their heartfelt thanks to Dr. Sean Morrissey and the entire team at W.G. Bishop Nursing Home for their consistent kindness, compassion, and attentive care over the years. Knowing that Mom was cared for with such dignity has brought us immeasurable comfort.

In honour of Cécile’s love for children and community, donations to the MEMS Breakfast Program in her memory would be deeply appreciated.

Visitation will take place on Thursday, May 15th 2025 from 2-4PM and 6-8PM at Hogg Funeral & Cremation Services (10 King Street, Minto, NB)

Funeral Service will be held on Friday, May 16th 2025 at 11:00AM at the Christian Community Church (819 Pleasant Drive, Minto, NB)

The legacy our mother leaves is a beautiful testament to the incredible person she was. She taught us to lean on faith, to love without condition, and to find strength in one another. Though she is no longer in our sight, her love will continue to guide us.
