Obituary of Harley Smearer

The passing of Allie Harley Smearer occurred on Tuesday, June 10, 2025 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born on March 10, 1949 in Bathurst, New Brunswick, he was the son of the late Florence (Adams) and Allie Smearer.

Besides his parents, Harley was predeceased by his loving wife Pat (Sutherland). He is survived by three sisters, Lynn Roy (Alan Ketteringham), Rhoda Flynn (Mike) and Heather Grant (Dave Andrew), as well as several nieces and nephews, and his beloved dog, Tundra.

As a member of the armed forces, he lived in Canada, the United States and Germany. He was a member of the Fredericton Corvette Club and he enjoyed a good game of bridge or 45s.

The family would like to express their gratitude to all the doctors, nurses and friends who cared for Harley over the last year and a half.

Honouring Harley’s wishes, there will be no service or viewing at this time. There will be a reception at the Douglas Harbour Community Hall, (90 Scotchtown Rd, Douglas Harbour, NB) on Tuesday, June 24, 2024 from 1 to 3 pm. Personal condolences may be offered through www.hoggfunerals.ca
