Obituary of Vincent J Poirier

It is with gratitude for a life well lived and a man much loved that we announce the peaceful passing of Vincent Joseph Poirier at the CHSLD Des Berges de Lachine, Montreal, Quebec on Tuesday, Jun 3, 2025 . Born on May 8, 1935 in St. Louis-de-Kent, N.B., he was the son of the late Edmond Poirier and Alice Daigle. 

Our family wishes to express our deepest appreciation to the doctors, nurses and healthcare workers who provided exceptional care and attention to him as he was challenged with the lengthy illness of Alzheimer’s Disease. 

Vincent was a remarkable man who radiated loving kindness that touched all those who were blessed to know him. He taught us what it means to be a real gentleman. He had a passion for life and was a devout nature lover. He was a member of The Canadian Wildlife Federation; The Naturalist Society of New Brunswick and The Birdwatchers Society. He was a loyal, hard worker and also loved working on his land and always had a project on the go. He was an exceptionally skilled handyman. He was an avid gardener, growing food for his family and his community. He also had a passion and talent for woodworking. Vincent worked in Ontario and Minto, New Brunswick where he lived and worked for most of his life. 

Vincent is survived by his daughter Nancy Poirier, step-son Ronnie Boucher, grandsons Neil Fisher and Steven Fisher and his beloved dog Rex. He is also survived by his sister Ida Roper, Stella Daigle, sister-in-law Eva Poirier as well as numerous extended family members. In addition to his parents, Vincent was predeceased by his wife Lena Poirier (Boucher) and his siblings: Tilmon, Eva, Ola and Rheal Poirier. 

A Graveside Service will be announced at a later date in Minto, NB. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that a donation be made in Vincent’s name to the Alzheimer Society of Canada at: https://alzheimer.ca/en
