Obituary of Valerie Evangeline Betts
The death of Valerie Evangeline Betts occurred with her loving family by her side on Monday
evening at the Chalmers Regional Hospital I Fredericton.
Born at Bath, NB she was the daughter of the late Wendell and Miriam (Ogden) Boyd.
It was no secret that Valerie’s greatest love was Ricky and her family, but the pride and love
were undeniable with the very thought of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Well known
for her cuisine at various restaurants in the area, her spare time was spent watching Judge Judy
and her crime shows not to mention the old reruns of the Waltons. She was especially happy at
Christmas time when all the Christmas shows were on.
In addition to her loving husband Richard “Ricky” Betts, Valerie is survived by her children,
Richard Betts (Linda) in Alberta, Aaron Betts and Natasha Betts both of Minto; her grand
children, Justin Arbeau (Melissa), Jennifer Arbeau (Joash), Jordan Betts (Erika), Alyssa Badger
(Colton) and Mya Badger (Jacob) as well as great grandchildren, Rueben, Lennox, Lily, Axel
and Oden; her brothers, Wendell Boyd (Barb) of Bloomfield, Tony Boyd (Melanie) of Alberta; her sisters, Clarissa Phillips of St. Stephen, Rose Ferguson (Wendell) of Bloomfield, Deanna Stanley of Newburg; and several nieces
and nephews.
She was predeceased by both parents and her brother, Arnold Boyd.
Resting at Hogg Funeral & Cremation Services (10 King Street, Minto) where the family will
receive friends and family on Wednesday evening from 6-8PM and from where funeral services
will take place 11:00AM, Thursday, July 24, 2025 in the Minto Community Chapel followed by
interment the United Baptist Cemetery.
The family would like to sincerely thank Dr. Prendergast, the entire palliative care team on 3E, Dr. Hadley, Nurses Kane, Emily, Catherine, Vanessa, Ruth-Anne and everyone who cared for her during her battles.
