Obituary of Josette Marie Jutras
Marie Josette (Richard) Jutras of Douglas Harbour, NB passed away peacefully Sunday
August 10, 2025 at Pine Grove Nursing Home in Fredericton, after a lengthy struggle with
dementia.
Josette was born June 11, 1954 in Minto, NB. She was the daughter of the late Laurie
Richard and Laudia Maillet Richard.
Jo led a wondrously full life. She worked in banking, bookkeeping, and as a commissionaire
at Service Canada. With her husband Sylvain, she managed multiple small businesses.
Most notably, Josette worked as a civilian with the Canadian Armed Forces which took her to
Alert, Nunavut and Kabul, Afghanistan, for which she was awarded a General Service Medal
with the International Security Assistance Force.
Jo will be remembered for her fun-loving, adventurous spirit. She loved to travel, to meet
new people, to go camping, to pursue outdoor sports including downhill skiing, wind-surfing,
and scuba diving. If she wasn't out on the boat with Sylvain, Josette could be found working
on her more creative pursuits like painting, crafting, and woodworking, or setting up her stall
at local markets. More than all of her hobbies combined, Jo loved playing with and training
her dogs who were her cherished companions.
Josette is survived by her two sons, Nathan Corey (Andrea) of Ottawa and Julian Corey
(Carolina) of Santiago, Chile; her sisters, Elva Chretien and Jean Hunter (Harry); her
brothers, Reginald Richard (Lyla) and Iroi Richard; her sister-in-law, Lorraine Belliveau
Richard; and many nephews and nieces.
She was predeceased by her parents; her loving husband, Sylvain Jutras; her brothers,
Brian Richard and Laurier Richard (Kathleen); her brother-in-law, Gerry Chretien; and her
sister-in-law, Deloris Richard.
A celebration of Josette's life will be held at the Douglas Harbour Community Hall at 90
Scotchtown Rd. Douglas Harbour, NB, on Sunday September 7th at 2:00pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Pine Grove Nursing Home would be appreciated.
