Obituary of Henry Anthony Daamen

Surrounded by his family, the death of Henry Anthony Daamen of Minto, NB, occurred peacefully on Friday, August 29 th , 2025, at the Chalmers Regional Hospital.

Born in Langenboom, Holland, on December 12 th , 1937, he was the son of the late Antoon and Henrica (Hendriks) Daamen. 

Henry is survived by his loving wife, Blanche (Doncaster) Daamen; his daughters, Anna Marie Daamen-Hawkes (Andrew) and Leah Daamen-Thornton (Tim); daughter-in-law, Joanne Arnold- Daamen; grandchildren, Brandon, Dimitri, Chandler, Ally, Morgan, and Georgia; great-grandsons, Rowan and Lucas; brothers, Joe Daamen (Dody), Corrie Daamen (Annette), and Gerritt Daamen (Sheryl); sister-in-law Marion Daamen; as well as many nieces, nephews, and
cherished friends.

In addition to his parents, Henry was predeceased by his son and best friend, Hank Daamen; brothers, Theo, Koos, and Martin Daamen; and sisters, Ricky Van Doren, Netta Brown, Martha Steele, Annie Daamen, Tina Bosse, and Theresa Arts. 
 
 
Henry was a dedicated and active member of his community. He owned and operated the Minto Ambulance Service for many years, and together with his wife, ran Daamen’s Flower Shop. He was a faithful member of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, served the Minto Fire Department with distinction, held membership with the Rotary Club, and lifetime memberships with the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #12 and the Ambulance Association of New Brunswick. 
 
The family would like to thank our 4SW family, Dr Bedford, the Palliative Care team, the Extra Mural team, his QNCHC nurses, and Sherry of Services to Seniors for their exceptional care and compassion.

Resting at Hogg Funeral and Cremation Services with visitation on Tuesday, September 2 nd , from 2-4pm and 6-8pm. A funeral mass will be held at the Holy Rosary Catholic Church on Friday, September 5 th at 11am, followed by interment at St Bridget’s Cemetery, and a reception at the Holy Rosary Hall. For those who wish, donations can be made to either school breakfast program, Saint Bridget’s Cemetery, or a charity of donor’s choice would be greatly appreciated by the family.
