Obituary of Sophie Gloria Mary Richard
The death of Sophie Gloria Mary Richard of Minto, NB occurred on Friday, October 10, 2025, at the York Care Centre in Fredericton, NB.
Born in Rogersville, NB, she was the daughter of the late Benjamin and Geneviève (Haché) Doucette.
Sophie was a woman who loved the outdoors — she enjoyed fishing and hunting and was also a talented quilter. She was a member of Les Dames De. Sainte Anne for over 40 years. Above all, she cherished her family deeply and took great joy in spending time with them.
She is survived by her sons, Marcel Richard (Gail), Maurice Richard (Brenda), and Roger Richard (Anne); her daughters, Claire Quigley (Kirk) and Rose Marie Scribner (Neil); along with 12 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren; a special niece and chosen daughter, Bernice Belliveau that shared a unique bond; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her parents, Sophie was predeceased by her husband, Maxime Richard; her brothers, Andrew, Eric, Leo, Raymond, Marcel and Benoit; and her sisters, Rita Hachey and Mary Gaudet, Jeanette McIsaac and Melina Pitre.
We are grateful for the care given to her at the Chalmers Regional Hospital by Doctor’s and staff.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the doctors and staff for the exceptional care and support provided to our mom throughout her time at York Care Centre. Your dedication and kindness made a meaningful difference in her life, and we are sincerely appreciative of your efforts. We are overwhelming grateful t for all the love and compassionate care given to mom from her first to her final days. They were second to none.
We would also like to acknowledge the many friends and extended family who reached out with visits, calls, and messages of comfort during this difficult time. Your thoughtfulness and presence have been a great source of strength and support to us all.
Resting at Hogg Funeral & Cremation Services with visitation on Sunday from 1- 4PM. Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11:00AM Monday, October 13th, 2025 from Holy Rosary Catholic Church. For those who wish, donations made to the Dame De Sainte Anne would be greatly appreciated by the family.
