Obituary of Georgina Caroline Murphy
After celebrating her 93rd birthday on November 6th at York Care Center in Fredericton NB mom went to heaven on November 28th. Born in 1932 in Victoria Mills (Fredericton), N.B. she was the youngest daughter of Althea (Austin) and Clarence Corey. Mom married her high school sweetheart Ted Murphy and together they raised Eric (Janet), Dennis (Mary), Terry (Carol), Larry (Deb), Charlotte (Robert Betts) and Melody (Clark Brewer). Besides her children she leaves behind her beloved 10 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren to celebrate her life as well as her 100 year old sister Gladys Bentley. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her husband Ted, sister Vivian Richardson and brothers-in-law, Jimmy Richardson and Roy Bentley.
In her earlier years mom worked at the Eaton's order office in Minto. She and dad established Deco Steps and Railings Ltd which operated for 50+ years. She also worked for 16 years at the Dept of Natural Resources in the Minto and Chipman offices. She was a lifetime member of Full Gospel Pentecostal Church (now Christian Community Church) and an Honorary member of the Ladies Missionary Group. She spent many years as a Sunday School teacher and two of her Sunday School "boys" (Rev. Kris Austin and Rev. Ron Austin) will be officiating at her funeral.
Mom loved family get togethers as she loved to cook and see family gather at the kitchen table with the tea pot always ready. She and dad wintered in Florida for about 10 years and made long lasting friendships there, but they were always anxious to come home to New Zion.
All are invited to Christian Community Church 819 Pleasant Dr Minto NB to celebrate the life of our beautiful mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Visitation at 1:30 pm until the funeral begins at 3:30 pm.
At her request any memorial donations would be greatly appreciated to either Christian Community Church or Samaritan's Purse.
We want to express our heartfelt gratitude to every member of the staff at the York Care Centre. Your dedication, compassion, and professionalism made a significant difference during her stay.
