Obituary of Nancy Marlene Canavan

The passing of Nancy Marlene Canavan (McKay) wife of the late Michael Canavan Sr. occurred on Monday February 5, 2018 at York Care Centre, Fredericton, NB. Born in Ripples, NB on March 17, 1941. Nancy was the daughter of the late Kathleen Lunnegan (McLean), Justice McKay and stepfather George Lunnegan. She attended school in Minto. She was a full time mother to her children, a foster parent and a dedicated military wife. She loved doing things for others – any jobs she had were just that - helping another person. She worked many years in nursing homes in Ontario and New Brunswick. In 1999 she retired from York Manor. Like all great moms, grandmothers, and great grandmothers, her love and support through the years never faltered. Nancy loved her family and fur babies. Nancy is survived by her daughter Robin Canavan, her son Michael Canavan (Sherry), her granddaughter Alexandria Canavan (Matt), her great granddaughter Tianna Arnold, sisters Paulette Martin (Clarence), Jackie Essensa, Carol Patterson (Wayne), Leona Halliday and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Family in Cape Breton. In addition to her late husband and parents, Nancy was predeceased by her sisters Ruth, Evelyn, Muriel, Mildred, Laura, Roberta, Faye, brother Ernest and fur babies. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the staff at Birchgrove – York Care Centre and Dr. Sheldon Wood for their support and care. In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to the New Brunswick Alzheimer Society, your local SPCA, Cancer Society or a charity of your choice. Resting at York Funeral Home with visiting on Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8pm. Funeral Service will take place in the T. Gordon MacLeod Chapel 7:00PM Friday, February 9, 2018.
