Obituary of Brenda Swift

Brenda Swift passed away in her 66th year on September 30th. How happy the heavens must be to have another beautiful voice joining the choir of angels. The daughter of the late Dorothy and Otty Swift, sister to Preston (Colleen) Cedric (Joan) Katherine (Jeff Smith). Her nieces Madonna, Melissa (Kevin) Alexandra and MacKenzie as well as her nephew Michael (Jennifer) are left to mourn her passing. But tempered with our grief is a sense of acceptance that the health struggles Brenda faced these many years are over for her. For those who knew Brenda as a young child, they would tell you a more gifted pianist and soloist could not have been found. All those years of music lessons came to fruitation as Brenda left Minto first to attend bible college in Moncton then heading to Montreal and onto Toronto, where the music scene was exploding with talent. Brenda's talent soon saw her playing and singing backup for music recordings and in commercials and anywhere she could play and sing, alongside building a successful wholesale business. Brenda was happy. But her health struggles began to surface as she entered her third decade and sadly, she left Toronto and returned home to Minto. There was no better place for healing than being in a community full of friends and family. Brenda was surrounded by people who loved and cared for her. After her parents passing, her siblings provided Brenda with support and love and worked tirelessly to see that her quality of life was the best it could possibly be. We would ask that Brenda be remembered as that beautiful child, that talented young woman and the brave person she was who hung on as long as she possibly could. We loved our sister and we shall forever be grateful for the time we had with her. There will be a memorial held at Hogg Funeral & Cremation Services (10 King Street, Minto), Friday October 19th at 2:00pm. It is requested that any donations be made to the Canadian Mental Health Association. The strife is o'er, the battle done.
