William Hewitt

Obituary of William Charles Hewitt

William Charles Hewitt, 87, died Monday, October 25, 2021 at Hospice House, Fredericton.

Born in Jackson’s Arm, Newfoundland, Bill was predeceased by his parents Amelia (Jacobs) and Frederick Hewitt.  His mother, Amelia, remarried upon the unexpected death of Bill’s father, giving Bill a caring second family.

Bill is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Brenda (Andrechuk) Hewitt.

Bill was an honest, hard working and kind man.  He had a broad circle of friends who loved and respected him for his fine qualities.  He was a man of faith and as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses, he shared his faith in his God, Jehovah and his redeemer, Jesus Christ with all who would listen.  As an elder in his local congregation, his spiritual family always enjoyed his heartfelt prayers.

Bill loved the outdoors and never tired of going home to “The Rock” (Newfoundland) where nature is in full glory.  He loved fishing and was always ready for a game of cards.  Young at heart, he was always ready for adventures, large or small, anytime.

Bill had three children with his first wife, Patricia Anne (Gasston).  He is survived by his children, son Shane (Dani) Hewitt of Winnipeg, MB, daughter Fayanne (Ken) McLeod of Wisconsin and son Fenton (Trisha) Hewitt of Saint John, NB.

Bill is also survived by his identical twin brother, Hezekiah (Hez) Hewitt and wife, Vera of St. John’s, Newfoundland, his other Newfoundland siblings, Joan Candow, Lionel Candow and Kay Edwards of Ontario and nieces and nephews.

Bill was predeceased by sisters Sheila Pinard, Betty Squires and brothers David Candow and Winston Candow.

Bill had a strong conviction that his God, Jehovah will resurrect him to life in a beautiful paradise earth in fulfillment of Revelation 21:4 which says:  “And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore.  The former things have passed away.”

Bill’s family wishes to thank the staff of 4NW at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital and the staff at Hospice House for the dignified and compassionate care they gave him during his final days.
