Obituary of Peter Harry Arthur Miller

With heavy hearts, the family of Peter Harry Arthur Miller, announce his passing on November 10th, 2024 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital in Fredericton, NB.

Peter was born at North Minto Hospital on March 28, 1945 to the late John and Margaret Miller (nee Springer). Peter enlisted in the Royal Canadian Navy in 1962 where he served 3 years as helicopter crew.
Following his time in the Navy he completed high school and attended the New Brunswick Technical Institute where he took business technology. After working for the Province, he opened his building supplies store which he operated for over 40 years.

During his time as an entrepreneur Peter pursued many professional and personal activities he loved. He was an avid hunter and fisher spending every spring, summer and fall at his camp in Salmon River.
He was on the boards of the Atlantic building supply dealer’s association and Timbr-Mart Atlantic before retiring. Peter was an active member of the community serving 3 terms on the village Council and close to 5 decades on the Volunteer Fire Department, spending 13 years as chief.

Peter is survived by his wife of 40 years Mary (Mills), children Shauna (Tony), Mike (Pam) and Andy (Jill), grandchildren Grayson, Emery, Jayme and Lou; sister Diane (the late Mike Prescott); brothers, Paul, David (Jane) and Willard (Charlotte). 

A celebration of Peter’s life will take place from 1:00PM – 3:00PM on Friday, November 15th, 2024, at the Minto Fire Department (187 Main Street, Minto, NB E4B 3N5). Interment will take place at a later date.

In honor of Peter's memory, his family thanks you and kindly requests that donations be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or to a local charity of your choice. Peter was deeply involved in many community organizations, each of which held a special place in his heart.
