Obituary of Doreen Florence Ackerson

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of a very special lady. Doreen Florence Ackerson passed away peacefully at Hospice House, Fredericton, NB on Thursday evening, November 14, 2024. Born January 27, 1952 in Minto, NB.

Doreen worked at the Wandlynn Inn for 27 years as Head Housekeeper, then moved on to the Goody Shop for 8 years and ended her career at Hunters One Stop. 

Doreen loved doing puzzles and always had one on the go on her table. She loved going for walks and enjoyed hopping in the car for a day trip. She was always down for an adventure and loved spending time with her family. 

She is survived by her husband, Garnet Ackerson; her children, Tobi (Rob) and Darren (Tricia); step-daughters, Kelly (Tim) and Jackie (Dave); grandchildren, Brandon (Emma), Ethan, Evan, Timara (Mike) and Kelsy (Justin); 13 great-grandchildren; siblings, Sheila (Eric), Mary Louise (Wayne), Gary (Susan), Karen (Garbor), Sharon Freeze and Lisa Gesner; several cousins, nieces and nephews. 

Doreen was predeceased by her parents, Leo and Alice (Blackier) Sparks; her sister, Lori and her step-daughter, Tina. 

Visitation will be held at Ripples United Pentecostal Church, 548 Route 670, Ripples, NB on Monday, November 18, 2024 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. The Funeral Service will be held the following day at the Ripples United Pentecostal Church at 2 pm with Pastor Don McCarty and Pastor Bruce Boyd officiating. Reception will follow the service and the burial will take place in Ripples Community Cemetery.

Donations in honor of Doreen can be made to the Minto Elementary School Breakfast Club, Fredericton Hospice House or to the charity of the donor's choice.
