Obituary of Joe Albert

The death of “Smokin” Joe Prosper Albert surrounded by the love of his wife and their children at 4:38AM Thursday, January 23, 2014 at the Chalmer’s Regional Hospital. Born in Minto, NB he was the son of the late Edward and Celine (White) Albert. “Hero of the Sport” Joe has had championships spanning for over 35 years, was most popular driver for nearly a decade and was inducted into Maritime Motor Sports Wall of Fame and Minto Sports Wall of Fame. He was also first ever recipient of the “ Hero of the Sport” award. He will be sadly missed by many fans, friends and loving family. Survived by his loving wife Arlene (Chase) Albert; sons, Tyson (Jessica) and Joel; daughters, Haley (Charles), Lois (Ricky), Celine (Don); grandchildren, Chase, Tessa, Edyn, Stephanie, Jeremy, Matthew and Danielle(Adam); great grandson, Sammy; sisters, Rose Holt (Doug), Louise (George), Anne (Jerry); brother, Julian (Caroline); best friend Mator; many nieces and nephews. Resting at Hogg Funeral Services (10 King St. Minto, NB) with visiting on Friday from7-9pm and on Saturday from 10 – 12:00 noon. In keeping with Joe’s wishes, a time of fellowship will be held at the Minto Seniors Hall at 12:00 noon. For those who wish, donations made to the SPCA would be appreciated by the family.
