Obituary of Frederick George Heagney

It is with heavy hearts, that the family of Frederick George Heagney announce his death which occurred at the Dr. Everett Chalmer’s Regional Hospital on Wednesday, August 27, 2014 at the age of 55. Born in Minto, NB on September 16, 1958, he was the loving husband of Lynn Casey … Heagney of Midland Road. Fred passed away peacefully surrounded by his wife and children. Fred leaves behind his loving and caring wife Lynn (Casey) Heagney of twenty years and his three children all at home; Bridget, Joshua, and Dalton. Fred will be sadly missed by his best friend Maxx. Also survived by his closest and loyal sister Marilyn Heagney (Keven), nieces Kandy, Michelle; nephew Perley Fred; and many more nieces, nephews as well as sisters Cheryl and Linda. Fred was also predeceased by his beloved mother Amy Matilda (Cochrane) Heagney. Fred was a loving, and devoted husband, father, son, brother, uncle and friend, with strong family values. Even though Fred battled a deadly monsters for ten years, he always had a positive attitude and a smile to go along with it. Fred was first diagnosed with kidney cancer in 2004, then again in 2007 when it moved first to his lung, then later to his brain. For the past three years Fred has been taking chemo, which was keeping the cancer at bay. After a brutal battle this past year his family can take comfort in knowing he is at peace and no longer suffering. After a very long career in the automotive world, he was known as an outstanding auto body technician. Always by his side, his loyal employee and best friend Bradley Chapman of Minto, NB. He will always be missed by his many close and best friends who visited Domestar Auto Painting regularly. The family would like to send a special thank you to the palliative care nurses, Dr. Gowan, Dr. Swan, Dr. Beland and a special thank you to Sandra from Oncology. Per Fred’s wishes there will be no visitation. A celebration of his life will be held at him home at 598 Midland Road on Saturday, September 6, 2014 from 2-4 pm with Pastor David Williston officiating, there will be an Irish wake following the ceremony. For those who wish, in lieu of flowers, please donate to the Canadian Cancer Society or the IWK. We invite all who knew and loved Fred to please come and celebrate ad share your memories with us at his Celebration for Life.
