Obituary of Cyril M. Carney

The death of Cyril “Cy” Carney of Newcastle Centre, NB occurred Sunday, September 28th, 2014 at the Veterans Health Unit, Fredericton, NB. Born in Jemseg, NB, he was the son of the late Walter and Cora (Dykeman) Carney. Cy was a member of the Oromocto Korean Veterans Association, a Royal Canadian Legion life member of branch # 12 Minto, R.C.E.M.E Association, RC Signals Association, F.S.N.A., Minto senior citizens club, a member of St. Michael and All Angels Anglican Church, he was an Avid hunter, loved fishing, bowling, curling and Kayaking. Cy was recently awarded the Queen Elizabeth Anniversary Diamond Jubilee Metal and the Korean Peace Metal. Cy is survived by his sons, Rodney (Carla) of St. Andrews, Richard (Megan), Barry (Brenda) and Rusty (Marlene) all of Newcastle Centre; his daughter, Janice Carney of Acton, ON; 12 grandchildren,, Dareth, Scott, Colleen, Melissa, Talia, Logan, Jared, Chelsea, Kimberly, Melanie, Carney and Jaslynn and 8 great grandchildren, Ethan, Nathaniel, Summer, Hannah, Emma, Emily, Jaxon and Sawyer; his sister, Olivia Allen (William) of Fredericton as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Nancy (Harding) Carney in 2013 and a grandson, Joshua. Resting at Hogg Funeral Services (10 King St. Minto, NB) where the family will receive visitors on Wednesday 2-4 and 6-8pm. Funeral Service will be held 2:00PM, Thursday, October 2nd, 2014 at St. Michael and All Angels Anglican Church in Minto. Interment will take place in the Newcastle Creek Cemetery Extension at a later date. In Lieu of flowers, donations made to the Children’s Wish Foundation would be appreciated by the family. All comrades are invited to a legion tribute service at 6PM at the Funeral Home.
