Obituary of Donald Owen Mowat

It is with great sadness that the family of Donald Owen Mowat of Cumberland Bay, New Brunswick announces his passing on July 24, 2020 at the Dr Everett Chalmers Hospital . Born in Saint John on June 19, 1935 he was the eldest son of Donald and Ruth (Rosengren) Mowat. Don lived the majority of his life in Minto moving to Cumberland Bay later in life. He is survived by his wife Evelyn (Jones), daughters Wendy (Dwight) Northrup - Rothesay, Karen (Jim) Sloan - Jackson Point, NS and Peggy (Kim) Chase - Gaspereau Forks. Grandchildren, Donnie (Eden) Ferris - Moncton, Nicholas (Lindsay) Ferris - Gaspereau Forks, Josh (Kelsey) Northrup - Fredericton and Katie Northrup - Rothesay. Great-grandson Gage Ferris - Gaspereau Forks. He was the eldest of a family of twelve and will be missed by his brothers and sisters: Dale - Burton, John (Marilyn) - Moncton, Loy MacDonald - Fredericton, Nancy Goodine - Perth-Andover, Betty (Kurt) Schatz - Saint John and Harvie (Mary Lou) - Fredericton. Also survived by his sisters-in-law Betty Mowat - Minto and Gennie Mowat - Toronto and many nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents Don was predeceased by siblings Fay Belleville, Orland (Bud), Billy, Max and David. Don was owner operator of Mowat’s Well Drilling for 50 years providing water to families and businesses across central & southern New Brunswick and the south shore of Nova Scotia. Many thanks to Mike Perry for his dedication to the well drilling business and ongoing support to the family. To protect our loved ones from Covid-19 and meet the guidelines of Public Health, the funeral service will be by invitation only. A recording of the service will be available through the Hogg Funeral Home website after the service (www.hoggfunerals.ca) For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the Christian Community Church, Newcastle Bridge, Minto Resources Centre, MEMS Breakfast Program or a charity of the donor’s choice.
