Obituary of Aline Marie Geneau
With heavy hearts, the family of Aline Geneau announces her peaceful passing on April 22, 2016 at her home at Nanaimo Seniors Village, Nanaimo, British Columbia, in the arms of her loving daughter-in-law, Cathy. She will be deeply missed, but fondly remembered.
Aline was pre-deceased by her husband and soul-mate Peter, her parents, Dominic and Louise Arsenault, and her sister Alice. She is survived by: her sons Paul (Cathy), Brian, and Daniel (Emma); grandchildren Sevanna, Michelle, Danielle, Andre, Nathan, and Meghan; great-grandchildren Abby, Marli, Anna, Jonah, Allie, and Charlotte; siblings Ida, Josephine, Eva, Abel, Marcel, Gerard, Stella, Lena; and numerous nieces and nephews, brothers/sisters-in-law, and other members of her extended family. She was deeply loved, and held a dear place in the hearts of all that knew her.
Aline was born in Rogersville, New Brunswick on June 10, 1931. When she was young her father moved the family to Minto, New Brunswick. Aline grew up there, and although as an adult she lived in many distant places, she always considered Minto to be home.
Aline and Peter were married on June 30, 1952. Throughout their long marriage they were an inspiring example of love and dedication, and demonstrated a strong commitment to family. Their home was always open to family and friends, and was filled with music and laughter. During Peter’s career in the Air Force they lived in various communities in Canada, as well as a posting in France. When Peter retired the family moved back to New Brunswick. Due to failing health, in 2012 Peter and Aline moved to Nanaimo, British Columbia where son Paul and his wife Cathy could look after them. They received excellent care from their family physician Dr. Chrisen Moonsamy and other medical specialists, and from the staff of Nanaimo Seniors Village and Malaspina Gardens.
Aline and Peter were devout Catholics, with a strong relationship with God, and they took comfort and strength in their prayers to St. Anne de Beaupre and to the Blessed Virgin Mary. They were sustained by their faith in the afterlife, confident that they would be reunited with each other and all their loved ones.
A funeral service will be held at the Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Minto, New Brunswick at 11:00 AM on Friday August 5th, followed by a reception. All friends and family are welcome. Memorial donations are suggested to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, or to the maintenance of the St. Anne de Beaupre Shrine.
