Obituary of John Samuel Graham
The peaceful death of John Samuel (Johnny) Graham of Chipman occurred Monday, October 20th, 2008 at the Veterans’ Health Unit in Fredericton.
Johnny will be deeply missed by his beloved wife of 66 years Evelyn (Fraser); 2 daughters, Barbara Rombough (Ashur) of Riverview, NB and Mary Woods of Roblin, ON; a daughter-in-law, Marilyn (Lester) Graham of Gaspereau Forks; 7 grandchildren: Christopher, Jennifer, Janna, Rebecca, Norah, Kate, and Stephen; 3 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his son, John (Kim) Graham in 1993 and 2 brothers, Arthur and Ross.
Johnny was born in Newcastle Bridge on January 1st, 1919 to Ashmer and Myrtle (Barton) Graham. He served in the Royal Canadian Air Force and it was during this time John and Evelyn were married. Throughout their loving lives together, they lived in Florida and all over Canada (mostly Ontario and New Brunswick). No matter where they travelled Johnny always considered Gaspereau Forks to be home. It was very easy for them to make friends and even in the last few years, Johnny’s charismatic way and irreverent sense of humour drew in good friends.
Johnny was a wonderful man who cared for his family. He was loved by many and will be missed. His family takes comfort in all the beautiful memories they have of him.
