Obituary of Georgie Lucy Isabel Donaldson
The death of Georgie Lucy Isabel (Buchanan) Donaldson of North Minto Residence, Minto and formerly of Coal Creek, NB occurred Wednesday, April 7th, 2010 at the Chalmer’s Regional Hospital.
Born in White’s Cove, NB she was the daughter of the late George and Annie (Patterson) Buchanan.
Georgie is survived by her daughter, Betty McNamara (Wellington) of Hardwood Ridge, NB; her granddaughters, Maureen Coffey (Dan) of Hammonds Plains, NS and Peggy Gauvin (David) of Moncton, NB; her great grandchildren, Mitchell, Lauren and Simon Coffey, Marc and William Gauvin; a sister, Lottie Wiggins of Youngs Cove, NB; many nieces and nephews in both Canada and Scotland.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband William (Bill) Donaldson; and by brothers, Beverly, Murray, Melbourne, Elmer and Ronald Buchanan.
Georgie was a life member of Anglican Church Women, a 50 year member of the Coal Creek Woman’s Institute and was instrumental in introducing the WI to Coal Creek where it still exists. In her early years of marriage. Georgie worked in a munitions factory in Toronto and then as a cook in lumber camps in NB. Her quilts were works of art, many designed by her husband Bill.
Resting at the Grand Lake Community Chapel (43 Main Street, Chipman, NB 339-5522) with visiting on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9pm. Funeral Service will be held 2:00PM Saturday, April 10, 2010 from Saint Augustine’s Anglican Church, Chipman, NB Internment will take place in Redbank United Church Cemetery at a later date. For those who wish donations made to the Anglican Parishes of Minto and Chipman, NB would be appreciated by the family.
