Lorna Hare

Obituary of Lorna Marilyn Hare

It is with heartfelt sadness that the family of Lorna Hare share the news of her passing. Lorna was born Christmas Day in Minto NB and was the daughter of Lloyd Butler and Margaret McMann. She spent her early years growing up in Minto then moved to Fredericton as a young adult. She worked as a secretary for NB Power and that is where she met her husband Gordon Hare. Lorna left the secretarial pool directly after they were married to start her journey as a wife and mother. These are both things she mastered without fail. After a devastating illness in 1988 Lorna faced many health challenges through the years. Her stubborn personality, her lust for life and her unshakable faith allowed her to manage them all for an extended period of time. She had an amazing medical team who kept her with us for as long as was humanly possible. As a family our heartfelt appreciation goes out to this team spearheaded by Dr. Cheryl Rushton, along with Dr. Luntao, and Dr. Henderson. Your continued care and dedication over the years was above and beyond and we cannot thank you all enough. Lorna is survived by her devoted husband of 52 years, Gordon Hare, her son Michael Hare (Joanna), daughter Debbie Hallett (Todd), beloved granddaughters Jiveney Trecartin (Mike) and Lauren Hare. Also, her brother Kevin Butler (Brenda), nieces Jennifer MacFarlane (Ben) and Janice Butler as well as sister-in-law Mildred Gryschuk (Gordon). Two cherished great nephews Declan and Camden MacFarlane, as well as several cousins and many close friends. She was predeceased by both of her parents and her stepfather Lawrence McMann. Visitation will be held at McAdams funeral home, 160 York Street from 10 am to 12 pm on Thursday August 4, 2016. A brief memorial service will follow in the McAdams Chapel. A private internment will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations to be made to the Arthritis Society, the Heart and Stroke Foundation, or the New Brunswick Lung Association. These are all organizations that touched Lorna directly. Gone from our lives but ever present in our hearts, Lorna will be deeply missed every day by all of those that knew and loved her.
