Obituary of Ferdinand Lapointe

It is with great sadness the family announces the death of Ferdinand Frank Lapointe. He passed away on Saturday, October 22nd, 2016 at his home in Minto, NB, surrounded by his loved ones. Born in Minto, NB he was the son of Roland and Berenice (Despres) LaPointe. In addition to his parents, Ferdinand will be sadly missed by his loving wife, Gwen (Dominey); his canine companion, Spencer; sisters, Joanne Lynch (Gary) of Fredericton, NB and Velma Lapointe-Powers (Herman Hudnut) of North View, NB; several nieces and nephews, as well as great nieces and nephews. Ferdinand was predeceased by his grandparents as well as several aunts and uncles. Fern, as his family called him, or Ferdie, was a meat cutter for 38 years. He began at the IGA in Minto and worked there for 27 years. He then worked at Sobey’s in Oromocto and most recently was employed at Foodland in Minto. Ferdinand enjoyed bird watching and taking walks through the woods. He was a very kind man, with a contagious smile who loved his family and his dog Spencer immensely. A special thank you to palliative care, Dr. Gowan and nurses from extra mural for the exceptional level of care that was provided. In keeping with Ferdinand’s wishes, cremation took place. Interment will take place at a later date. For those who wish, donations made to the Extra Mural Care (Grand Lake) Fund would be appreciated by the family.
