Obituary of A. Alice "Toupie" Powers

March 20, 1957-January 12, 2022

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Alice “Toupie” Powers of Minto, NB, which occurred Wednesday, January 12, 2022 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital, surrounded by loved ones.

Born in Minto, NB, Alice graduated from Minto Memorial High School and remained a lifelong resident of the community.  She enjoyed the simple things in life; she loved family barbeques, warm weather and relaxing around a pit fire with her guitar and an ice cold Budweiser.  Alice was a very talented musician who played a variety of instruments.  She was a drummer with many local bands through the years.  Shy by nature, only the luckiest ones had the opportunity to hear her beautiful voice when she would sing.

Alice had great love and devotion for the loves of her life, her daughters, and their “little families”.  She was an extremely independent, soft hearted, spitfire with her natural beauty and own sense of style.  She would endlessly entertain everyone around her with her amazing wit and sense of humor.  She will be so dearly missed by her family and many friends.

Alice is survived by her mother, Stella Powers (Arsenault); daughters, Brandy Powers (Kenny) and Melissa Corey (Andrew); 4 precious grandchildren, Mackenzie, Marcus, Hali and Ashton; siblings, Alvina, Helen, Ron and Joanne; several nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.

Alice was predeceased by her father, Joseph Powers, an infant sister, Wanda and an unborn child.

A celebration of Alice’s life is being planned to take place at a later date. For those who wish, donations made to the Minto Elementary Middle School Breakfast Program would be appreciated by the family.
