A long time ago two sisters came to Canada as refugees from France seeking peace after a long war, Louise and Madeleine David - they and their descendants lived in the Old Avon for decades and 100 years later some are still there. I remember growing up in the Old Avon with all my grandparents, parents, uncles, aunts, cousins a few steps away, even my great-great Aunt Madeleine and cousin Andrew across the road. We little boys would go see what Andrew was up to - I remember him having a pork chop for breakfast once. He was very kind, never impatient with us, and liked to sing his made-up songs which I still remember (I think one was called "Darlena" and the notorious "One and One is Two"!). I sometimes sing out loud on the sidewalk here in Montreal - if Andrew could do it, so can I. Andrew was a carefree young man, but he married the beautiful and kind Darlena, who helped him settle down and they had children of their own. Andrew even became a grandfather. Andrew accomplished everything by virtue of finding the love of his life and raising a family. Not bad for a simple guy from the Old Avon!

Our sincere condolences to Andrew's kids and his beautiful Adeline.
To Johnny and Geraldine
Nieces and nephews,
Growing up in Old Avon, he was always a presence.
I first met him as a young teen, always the funny guy, who made you laugh, no matter what.
His happy-go-lucky attitude grew on you.
He was a character and hung out with the local boys, if you were lucky enough to have him as your friend, you were blessed.
Friendly to a fault, singing day and night.
His Family was his life, Darlena and his three Children, and beautiful Adeline.
Andrew came from small beginnings, he had something that made him a rich Man.
The love for his Family and their's for him.
Over, the years, he did have more than his share, but he rose above it all.
I will remember him in front of my house, strumming on an invisible guitar and singing very loudly.
He would call me Christina,
who would want to miss that.
I am glad to have known him flaws and all.
You will be missed by all.
Rest in peace, my Boy.
You are back home with Darlena.
Peter & Christina
